We wanted to wish our sweeties a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Let's start an Attitude of Gratitude chain right here on our blog. Click on "comments" below and state three things for which you are thankful (be different)! We already know you are grateful for your parents and family, your friends, and your AMAZING teachers (try not to laugh), but we want some original items. C-Rod will go first so you can see what we mean! Look under the comments, and be sure to read the various posts, and you will see that we have so MUCH to be thankful for, even the small things we take for granted!

We hope your day and weekend is filled with all the love and happiness your hearts can handle, and all the food your tummies can take! Remember, a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips! haha!

LOVE YOU ALL! Thanks for being the great kids you are! We are blessed!

  1. Wow! I have a never-ending list of blessings for which I am grateful, but here are a few to get us started!

Of course, my family, my home, my God are at the top of my list, but it's the items farther down the list that I forget about...which is the whole point of this activity!

First, I love the rain, its smell, its purpose, its promise. Rain has a way of calming me...unless I am stuck outside without an umbrella. (In which case, I'm thankful for umbrellas, too!) Even then, it cleanses the soul (like "an ablution" if you're into the SAT words) and gives life to the beautiful plants, trees, and green grass. And the best part - it's perfect for naptime!

Let me not forget PEDICURES! I am crazy for them! I love sauntering out of the nail salon with silky smooth feet and painted toes! The best part is - it's the only time I am sitting still. I am forced to just SIT...and not move! What a blessing!

Knobs and handles on doors are also pretty amazing. Think about it - If we had to open things without a knob, that would be tough! Imagine trying to open a kitchen cabinet or a closet without one. I know, TOUGH STUFF! Now imagine a car door without a handle! Yikes! How would drivers and passengers stay in the car when there are hard turns to make??? Rolling out of a car going 40 miles per hour CANNOT feel too good! LOL!

See what I mean? Even when life is sucking pretty badly, there are always a million small blessings we forget about! I hope this activity helps you remember a few of them...and makes you smile! :o)

    Well, that's all! Love you!

PS. Don't forget to read all comments!

  3. I'm thankful for having music to listen to. I love how the lyrics of a song, or the rhythm of a beat can brighten someone's day, make them reflect over an event, or coincidentally help them find the solution to a problem they may have. The song we listen to in the moment can explain more about who we are or how we feel better than ourselves sometimes. So I guess it’s safe to say that “When words fail, music speaks.” :)

I’m also thankful for having summer and winter break. :P And every other holiday in between. Because even though I personally like school, and my AWESOME teachers, I can’t wait until a holiday comes along so I can catch up on my sleep. Winter break is nice because it’s the best time to stay in a cozy, warm bed when it’s freezing outside. And let’s not forget Christmas. <3 Plus, winter break is a good length of time; it’s not too much, or too little. Summer break is also one of my favorites because you can completely forget about school (sometimes), but by mid-July, I honestly can’t wait for school to start for the simple reason that there’s absolutely NOTHING to do. So I guess I’m thankful that school exists too. :D Because if not I don’t know what I would do with my life. :)

And last but not least, I’m thankful for having books. Because sometimes you just don’t want to do anything else except read a good book, or in some cases, you’re obligated to read 1 book for school, but actually end up reading the whole series which you’ve never read before (true story). :P One of the reasons I personally like reading books is because you tend to forget about the world around you and everything that’s going on and just focus on the book. An escape, you could call it. <3

Honestly I haven’t acknowledged these things before. I always knew I loved them but never reflected on it. It’s true what you said, there are a million little things we tend to forget. Sometimes we just forget to stop and smell the roses. Thank you Mrs.Rodriguez & Mrs.Curbelo , for being awesome teachers. I hope your son gets well soon, Mrs. Rodriguez. :)
    Happy Thanksgiving!!! :D <3

  4. Thanks, Kellen! Love you, girl!

Oooh, I thought of another one - Just heard the Christmas carol, "Oh, Holy Night." I am brought to tears everytime! The denotation and connotation in the words- and the songs itself, get me right there (I'm pointing to my heart). Man, that's deep stuff!

Love you all! Hi to my BFFL! Miss ya already!

  5. This is a very gratifying topic to discuss.

Well, first off, I'm thankful for having tissues that have Vicks on them! The brand Puff is amazing! Every time I get a cold, that's the first thing I get; I don't even bother getting medicine. Not only does my nose feel satisfied because of all the blowing onto a soft tissue, but it feels really refreshing, and it saves you money and time since it already provides you with Vicks, and that costs like five dollars. -.-

I'm also thankful for having hair products. Having curly hair isn't easy, ESPECIALLY during summer!! So all those good products such as CatWalk and Paul Mitchell And Biosilk, etc...they have saved my life :D

Last, but not least, I'm super thankful for having all my senses. Many people out there don't get the opportunity of having all of them when they're born, and I'm grateful I had the chance to have all of them. Some of my senses aren't that sharp, I have to admit, but at least there are things which provide me with the basic essentials, such as contacts to improve my eyesight <3

  6. There are a "gazillion" things I am thankful for. I am thankful for having a laptop which will let me post this comment ;)

I am thankful for the Target Pharmacy commercials. I know how weird right? Well I am pretty sure that the commercials were made to attract people to check out their pharmacy, but not me it actually gives me confidence to become a pharmacist. I don't know if you have seen the "Virginia Target Pharmacist" she is my inspiration and whenever I see her on TV she gives me a boost of confidence that I need when I do chemistry homework to not give up on my dreams no matter how hard it seems to actually achieve it.

I am so thankful for food! Thank the Lord for being able to provide me with savory and mouthwatering ribs, pork chops, and chicken wings. I also can't forget the sweets they can turn my day around. They put me in a delighted mood. I can never say no to food especially if it's free. :)

The last thing I am thankful and the thing I use the most is my glasses. Without those suckers I wouldn't be able to see the board or whatever the teacher is teaching. I would't be able to see Breaking Dawn on the huge screen clearly. I wouldn't be able to watch TV! I would't be able to recognize people from far away. I wouldn't be able to read the products or sales a store has from away. I need my glasses as you can tell. Besides without it, I would be a bother to teacher always having to sit in the front or whatever and always having to squint which is not pretty and damages your vision. I've lost my glasses countless of times but they always manage to come back to me because they love me and they need me as much I need it. (just kidding I know it's an inanimate object). Anyway, I am thankful I have them because they are my eyes and without them I wouldn't see beyond 10 feet.

Eyes, Target Commercials, and Food what would I do without them?

  7. Let me show my dear gratitude on this wonderful day :)

What I am truly thankful for is my "Perfect Health". Yeah I know that I'm not 100% healthy, but I'm thankful that I'm not living my life in the hospital, having a schedule of pills to take, etc. We get sick sometimes but eventually we come to our exceptional ways, that why I call my health "Perfect Health". :)
The second & third things that I am appreciative of are those extraordinary friends I have, and the spectacular people I have met.
Friends are those that are constantly helping us from the smallest of ways to even the ones that we thought could never have been accomplished. Their basically our everything in life, without them life would just be plain, like the ocean without the water. They guide us and we guide them through those indubitably tough times.
Now these type of people that I have met are just so one-of-a-kind type of person. This world has a whole bunch of different people, but these people are those that would do anything for anyone. They are always out there, assisting those in great need, donating tons of cash and not letting that affect them in any way possible, and even giving their most valuable possessions because it'll create a smile on the one receiving it. These people are the ones that are truly called wonderful, informing us to never give up, to stay away from harm and to do the right things in life. And one substantial point that they repeatedly say is to perpetually keep trying so catching your dream could be easier. Two of these people will most definitively be Mrs. C-Rod & Mrs. Curbelo, you guys are the superstars fosho! lol.
My mistake, I used "friends", to replace it I'll add Happiness. :)
God, family, life, a home, food, friends, and an education from the best of teachers will always be at the top of my list. Happy Thanksgiving everyone, hope you guys enjoy your turkeys! ;)

  8. "Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday that causes us to pause and consider the many things we have to be thankful for. However, this type of gratitude is something that should be practiced, not only on Thanksgiving, but every day of the year."

I am thankful for the simple act of breathing. Breathing allows me to know that I am alive and that God has given me another day to live and conquer my fears, while simultaneously achieving my goals. If you're breathing at the moment, you are so blessed. If that's not something to be thankful about, I don't know what is.

I am grateful for clothes. Imagine if clothes never existed and we would all walk around nude. How awkward would that be? In addition, clothes allows us to express ourselves. Our style says a lot about the people we are. I'm not the type of person who likes to shop a lot, but a new article of clothing always gets me so excited! I just love clothes.

I am so thankful for the moon. It never seizes to amaze me. I remember when I was younger I used to think that the moon followed me wherever I went at night. It always seemed that way through the window of my fathers car. No matter what, the moon has always been there for me on those lonely nights to show me that the world is bright and beautiful. It's a beautiful sight that just gives me hope.

I appreciate God, my family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all the obstacles I have gone through to make me the person that I am today.

  9. Like everyone else here, I am thankful for many things like my family, friends, and life itself. Though one thing I’ve neglected is this place in itself. I was born in a desert. As you can imagine its hot there, and there’s big old radiant sun (one of the things I am most grateful for). I LOVED that place. It never rained, it was not humid, and no matter what, it was always a perfect day to do something outside! When I moved here, I honestly hated it. I really didn’t like that it was immensely humid here, and that it always rained. Long story short, I got used to the rain, and came to like it… it makes the next day unpredictable. But don’t think that me liking the rain means that I warmed up to the humidity! There is still much animosity between us…
Another thing about Miami is that everything looks beautiful! There’s the grass, plants, trees, everything. All of the plants have vibrant colors. There’s never a lack of them and they always look healthy, even in the winter.
One thing I really take for granted is our humongous pyromaniac... THE SUN! It is always there hovering over us emanating light and warmth. It’s a beautiful thing really, though staring at its beauty for long amounts of time can cause damage to your eyes. Kind of like looking at a gods’ true form would incinerate you, just not as extreme.
But talking about the sun, I can’t forget mentioning the moon. Like Alondra said, it’s a beauty that can leave anyone in awe, no matter how many times its seen. It is what makes nights as they are, beautiful, and equally as nice as daytime. It keeps the oceans in check. If don’t want to event know how the world would be without the moon!
I’ve mentioned many things, and I think I’ve gotten off topic, but I am most grateful for having the friends that I’ve met here. They are always there (drama included) with smiles on their faces even when im being annoying. They are there for me even when I don’t want them there, and annoy me just as much as I annoy them. I know that they are true friends of mine, and that I can always count on them.
I’m going to stop writing here because, as it is, I’ve already written about a page worth of comment. Not only that, but my list goes on for a long time. Sorry :/

  11. Well, although I lost my grandmother merely a year ago, I am grateful for the way things happened because although she is not physically with me, I know that her prescence in heaven with the Lord at her side will always allow me to be close to her. I am also thankful for all the tribulations. Many of us complain about the negative moments, but at the end of the day, I'm glad to have gone through them because they have molded my character into someone I am truly proud to be. Last but not least, I'm grateful for my education. There are many children out in this world who are stuck in poverty, desiring only to become something in this life but they don't have the means to reach an education. I'm thankful for this (as nerdy as I sound lol) because I know that in the future, it will allow me to help my family and make those around me proud of me.

God bless everyone, and I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving :)

  12. You won't believe how many things I am thankful for every single day, but the hard part is to recognize it and show your gratitude through heart-to-heart love (even if it is a materialistic or abstract thing). I am truly thankful for not only my family physically being there for me through thick and thin, but for the bond that we share daily. I know some people take their loved ones for granted and/or "hate" their siblings or parents, but in my family we are so darn close that we can't help to just spread the love around. Everyday I tell my parents and sister (my brother is in Saudi Arabia so I don't really get to speak to him that often, but eventhough he's thousands of miles away, we still feel his presence here everyday) that I love them and to have a nice day because it's those few words that can actually get someone through the day. Some people have terrible situations pertaining to their faimly and they avoid their "home" as much as possible, but I truly enjoy my time spent at home with my loved ones. :)

Another thing I'm grateful for is my bed. It must truly be uncomfortable to not know when the next time it will be that you will have to sleep on a warm bed (preferably your own). Believe me, my bed isn't an amazing one, but it is mine and only mine. I often take advantage of and leave it undressed (messy), but at the end of the day I will come back and rest upon my bed once again for another great night's sleep.

Lastly, I am so blessed to live in this country of "freedom"! If my parents hadn't decided to raise their children here, we would most probably be living in poverty, walking miles to get to school under the radiant sun, and coming back home only knowing one language - Spanish. Here we have the ability to get educated to as far of a degree that we would like, live in a home that is stable (even the homeless have shelters from which they can stay in), walk outside without worrying about the dangers of someone trying to take my necklace, shoes, etc., and so many more things! This country is capable of allowing me my freedom with restrictions and I absolutely love it! I am proud to pledge my alligance to America every single day. God Bless America, and all of its inhabitants.

I hope you all gobbled up your turkey (or in my case, chicken) last night, and had a phenomenal night with family and/or friends. :)

  14. Well, of course I'm grateful for my family and friends above anything. They just make my life worth living. When all else fails, I know they will be there. Thanksgiving gives us that spirit of "changing heart" that I think we should continue all year long :).

There are many things that I am grateful for. For example, like Kellen, I'm grateful for music. Music is like words with rhythm, they have a special meaning to all of us. There's almost always a song to describe what kind of mood you are in or what kind of situation you are going through. It's a great way to just forget about what is going on around you and enjoy the little piece of sanctuary in your ears. Most people (including myself) just like to listen to music for the fun of it. It's like stepping into a whole other world that you choose to delineate with song.

I am also grateful for the internet. Oh, the endless possibilities of the virtual world. It has saved me countless hours of my life with its copious amounts of websites and links to explore. Some of the most popular websites I go to are thanks to the internet. But on the other hand, the internet to me also represents how far we have come along with technology and how we continue to expand our horizons.

Lastly, I am super grateful for school. Aside from the actual point of school which is to learn and prepare you for the world that awaits you, I think school has a very big impact in our lives. Some of my best friends that I know today are because I have all met them at school, along with other friends that I've met and gotten to know throughout the years. School has also given me the opportunity to be taught by some of the best teachers the world has to offer. I am also grateful that school has allowed me the chance to be a part of the best activity and worthwhile experience thus far in my sophomore year, the HGHS Marching Band <3. School is not as bad as people think it is, in fact, it's like our second home, and I'm grateful to be welcomed by it.

Everyone has their own little special things that they are grateful for. Aside from what I mentioned, I think I'm most grateful for being alive, because if that's not something to be grateful for, I don't know what is <3. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday close to those you are thankful for :).

  15. Thanks for your posts! Our students are truly amazing!!!! I am here working on the literature review of my dissertation, and I have to say that I am grateful for LEARNING! I feel so blessed to have a functioning brain (Not bad for a blonde! Shut up, Angel, Steven and Jon!), as well as the ability to read and write. I am also appreciative of inquiry! It's because of this that we question, research, study, experiment, make conclusions, etc.

OK, back to work. I still have 37 pages to write...by TUESDAY! In which case, I am ever grateful for caffeine (which will be my best friend until then)!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did :)

First of all, I am very grateful for Jesus, my family, and real friends. I don't know where I would be without them... <3

Now, what I am personally thankful for would have to be supermarkets and/or food. At supermarkets, you can buy almost anything that you would need when it comes to food related items. Sometimes when I'm shopping at a supermarket and take a look at my cart full of food, I feel like it's too good to be true, as if at any moment someone is going to confront me and tell me "I'm sorry but you cannot buy food anymore". I tend to think like this because of the stories my family have told me. My family tell me all the time how hard it was to get a can of tomato sauce in Cuba, and that ice cream was only seen once a year, and so on. That's one of the reasons why my family let me know all that the time that I should be thankful that we are in this country and that thank the Lord, we can afford to buy food; for we still have family in Cuba who struggle day by day with food. This pretty much sums up the reason why I am personally thankful for supermarkets and/or food.

Another thing that I am personally thankful for is the sky. The sky to me is one of the most beautiful creations that God has made. It is just so breathtakingly beautiful. There is not one moment where it does not look beautiful. Not even during a thunderstorm. I at times find myself just staring at the sky; picturing the clouds looking like different things, and thinking as if God's looking down on me. I feel at peace when I stare at the sky. It one of my favorite things to do and I think that many people should take a moment to just stare at its beauty. Maybe like that people won't take it for granted as much. That's what happened to me.

The next thing that I am thankful for is books. I just love reading, it is one of my favorite hobbies. I enjoy how there is so many different types of books that you can choose from. There is books out there for every type of person. I also love how you can escape into the little world that is in the book and kind of escape from the real world for a little bit. I also like to note the differences on how authors write and use words. Another thing I like about reading books is that it's like watching tv in your head. You can imagine the story in your book the way you want to be, and no one can tell you otherwise. To make a long story short, reading books is just amazing, there is so many things to it.

These are a few of the many things that I am personally thankful for.

  17. Apart from being thankful for my mom, my family, and my friends, theres little things that make life worthwhile too, and a lot easier.

To start off with, I am VERY thankful for my toothbrush. Can you IMAGINE not brushing your teeth in the morning ? I wouldn't be able to go on through my day.

Secondly, I'm very thankful for my straightening iron and curling iron (': I have naturally curly hair but at night when i go out or when I want to change up my look, irons are there to save the day!

Lastly, Im thankful for cellphones. I, not saying this because i'm thankful for texting or thankful for talking on the phone, because to be honest, i can live perfectly fine without a phone. When I go to cuba for vacation, i have a blast without technology, and i don't miss it all. I am thankful for cellphones because if there is EVER an emergency, I know i can always call someone. If someone is getting robbed, cellphones save the day. If someone is after you, you make a call to the police and you feel safe. Therefor, Im thankful for something I can use to save myself just incase anything ever happens.

  18. Like you said, there's many things to be thankful for like family, friends, food, but the three other things I can think of are:

    1. The lake behind my house... In my lake I can go out to my deck when I feel stressed and just sit there staring at the crystal blue water, eating sunflower seed, and just reflect, and think about my future. It's calming, and it is sometime I can have to myself. Also, in the summers I can go in for a swim, and chill with my friends like I've done for all the past summers.

    2. My caps. I love my caps for many reasons. When you wake up in the morning (not feeling like P. Diddy) and your hair is messed up and you're too lazy to comb it or put gel you just simply put on the cap. Also, fitteds look good if you know how to match them, so apart from saving your day they also help you look better. Thank god for caps. Plus everyone in 1st period saw how I looked with gel = never again. =X

    3. Last thing I am grateful for is the existence of sports. Without sports life would be so boring, and it would make it so hard to exercise. Playing a sport, or just following one gives you something to do. Also, sports let's you meet new people that share a common interest. It is also great when you get into discussions about stats or teams.

  19. Hmmm.. How can i pick just three thing, when i have so much to be thankful for!

first of all im sooooooooooooo thankful for NETFLIX !! Its like magic at my finger tips! i get to pick whatever i want to watch at whatever time all for a cheap monthly price <3.<3

On top of that, im thankful for my yellow blanky. iv had it since i was a baby and its super comfy, it something iv grown up with, it been constant in my life and even though so many people say im a baby for still sleeping with it.. its something that makes me feel happy. oh well (:

Last but not least, im extreamly thankful for the simple act of waking up in the morning. something as normal as waking up, is huge to me. when i open my eyes every morning its simply a blessing from god, knowing he has given me another day to live, to learn and to look foward to my futur. i love to wake up everyday, to breath and live and feel and laugh and hope for another tomorrow.

*Hope you all hade an amazing Thanksgiving
